Listing Purity Disclosure Writer

The exact honest line for your listing — 'brass base, 1-micron gold plating' — worded so marketplaces don't flag you and buyers don't feel cheated.

You sell a brass jhumka with gold plating. Write "gold" in the title and the marketplace can pull the listing; write "artificial" and the buyer scrolls on. The honest line sits in between — base metal, plating, purity — and most sellers rewrite it from memory on every new piece, differently each time.

What it will do

  • Name the base metal, the plating metal and its thickness in one plain listing line
  • Keep the title, the bullets and the base-metal and plating fields saying the same thing
  • Mark the claims that need backing — "real gold", "pure", "1 gram gold" on a plated piece
  • Give the same line in English, Hindi and Hinglish for WhatsApp and Instagram
  • Print a matching purity note for the tag, the bill and the parcel insert

Who reaches for it: Sellers of plated, imitation, 925 silver and mixed-metal pieces on Meesho, Amazon, Flipkart or WhatsApp, who must state purity without overstating it.

Sellers also ask

Can I call brass jewellery "gold plated" on Meesho or Amazon?

Yes, when that is what it is and the words match the attribute fields. The safe pattern names both metals: brass base with gold plating. Listings get pulled on the mismatch — "gold" in the title while the base metal field says brass. A plated piece also cannot carry a BIS hallmark, since hallmarking covers gold and silver articles, not plated brass.

How much of 22K gold is actually gold, and how much is alloy?

22K is 91.6% gold — the 916 in the BIS mark — so 8.4% of the weight is alloy, usually copper with some silver, added for hardness and colour. 18K is 750, or 25% alloy; 14K is 585. A 10 g 22K piece therefore carries 9.16 g of fine gold, and that is the figure your stated karat has to hold up to.

What does 1-micron gold plating mean, and can I write it?

A micron is a thousandth of a millimetre, so it describes how thick the gold layer is, not how pure. Flash or wash plating sits well under half a micron and wears off in weeks; heavier plating lasts and costs more. No Indian law fixes a minimum thickness behind the words "gold plated", so ask your plater what he actually ran and write that, not a round number.
