Warranty & Exchange Card Maker

Your plating warranty and exchange rules on one honest little card — terms in writing before the customer has to ask.

The piece went black in three weeks and the customer is on WhatsApp asking what you are going to do about it. Nothing was written down, so it is your word against her memory — and whatever you settle for now, the next customer will ask for the same. Terms in writing end that argument before the sale, not after it.

What it will do

  • Print a card in your shop's name stating the cover in months, not in vague counter words
  • Keep plating warranty and making-defect repair apart — two different promises, two lines
  • Spell out what voids it: perfume, sweat, water, and polish done at another counter
  • Set your exchange window and its conditions — unworn, tag on, original bill, nothing engraved
  • Carry the piece code, the purity mark (916, 750, 925) and net weight in grams, not tola

Who reaches for it: Anyone selling gold-plated, oxidised or 925 silver pieces direct — counter, WhatsApp, Instagram — with no marketplace policy to hide behind.

Sellers also ask

How long a warranty should I give on gold-plated jewellery?

Match the promise to the plating. A flash-plated piece, well under one micron, cannot honestly carry a year; a 1-micron piece worn occasionally often will. Ask your supplier for the micron figure in writing before you print any period, and promise only what you can afford to honour twice — the terms on your card become the terms every customer quotes back at you.

How much can I deduct when a customer exchanges old gold?

No rule fixes the number, but it has to be in writing before she walks in. State the purity you test at, what comes off for melting loss, and that making charges are not returned, since that labour is already spent. Settle in grams — an old book entry of one tola is 11.6638 g and gets misread. Print this too: GST on the new piece is charged on its full value, not on the balance after the old gold is adjusted.

Does my exchange card apply to Meesho, Amazon and Flipkart orders?

No. A marketplace order runs on that platform's own return window, raised in its app and decided by it, and your card cannot shorten it. Your terms govern what you sell direct: counter, WhatsApp and Instagram. Still put the card in every parcel, worded as being in addition to the platform's policy — a card that quietly promises less than the platform allows reads as a trap and earns you a complaint.
