Multiply by the fineness the hallmark states: 916 is 22K, so 0.916 of the 24K rate, and 750 is 18K, so 0.75. At a round ₹10,000 per gram of 24K, that is ₹9,160 for 22K and ₹7,500 for 18K. Before you multiply, check whether the rate you were given is per gram or per 10 grams — that mix-up is where most morning errors start. One tola is 11.6638 g.

Five things, or the number starts an argument at the counter: the date and time, the karat, the unit (per gram or per 10 grams), a line saying it is metal only with making and GST extra, and your shop name and phone number. A rate posted at 10 am is not the rate at 6 pm, and only the timestamp says so.

Keep the card to metal only and say so in one line; the tax belongs on the bill, not on the rate. Sold as goods, the whole jewellery value bills at 3%. Where making is charged as a separate service line, it is 3% on the metal and stones and 5% on the making. A card that quietly blends the two is the one customers argue about later.
