The WorkbenchPricing
Chain & Bangle Weight Estimator
Chain type, gauge and length to grams — before the piece is on the scale.
Start from a counter piece
The piece
Chain or bangle — the two are different shapes of metal, and different maths.
The link pattern decides how much metal one millimetre actually carries.
Width in millimetres, then the length off the rack.
Karat sets the density and the price — 24K is 19.32 g/cm³, silver barely half that.

Weigh one real piece — “20 in rope, 2 mm, came to 9.2 g” — and the estimator re-tunes its rope coefficient to YOUR supplier. Saved per type, every future estimate matches your counter.

Meri 20-inch rope chain ka weight scale se pehle kaise pata karun?
Type, width in mm and length choose kariye — the tool gives an honest range (about ±12% for solid chains), because two suppliers' rope chains at the same mm never weigh identical. The scale decides the final bill; this decides the conversation.
Hollow chain ka weight itna kam kyun dikhta hai?
Machine-made hollow chains carry roughly 40–55% of a solid chain's metal at the same size — the tool applies ×0.45 and widens the band to ±22%, so you never over-promise grams on hollow stock.
Bangle size 2-6 is how many mm?
2-6 is 60.3 mm across the inside — the Indian sizes read as 2 and n/16 of an inch, so 2-2 is 54 mm, 2-8 is 63.5 mm and 2-12 is 69.9 mm. Pick the size, then type the band width and thickness in mm, and the grams come back as a range: about ±12% for solid cast, ±22% for hollow tube, ±18% for cutwork.
How much does a 22K gold chain weigh per inch?
There is no single per-inch figure — the make and the width decide it. A 2 mm 22K rope works out near half a gram an inch, while a 2 mm cable, with its open rounds, comes out noticeably lighter. Width counts most: doubling the millimetres roughly quadruples the grams, because the link grows in depth as well as width.
Calculator weight is not matching my supplier's chain — what should I do?
Trust the scale and treat the gap as normal — the fill factors here are book averages checked against listed chain weights, and two makers' rope chains at the same millimetre genuinely differ. That is why the answer is a range, not one number. Tools Pro adds supplier calibration: weigh one real chain, and later estimates for that make follow your counter, not the book.
Is 916 the same as 22K gold?
Yes — 916 means 91.6% fine gold, which is 22K, and a BIS hallmark stamps it as 22K916 alongside the BIS logo and the six-character alphanumeric HUID. In this tool 22K is priced at 91.6% of the 24K rate you type, and it is also less dense than 24K, so the same size of piece comes out a little lighter in grams.
Can I quote the customer a price straight from this weight?
Not as the final price — this gives metal value only, and only once you type today's rate, which the tool never guesses. Making charges or wastage sit on top, then GST: 3% on the jewellery value, with making charges taxed at 5% where the bill shows them separately. A link under the estimate carries the weight into the making-charges calculator for the full bill.
